Dimitar Ivanov Stoyanov, known by the pseudonym Elin Pelin, was born on July 18, 1877 (according to the old style calendar) in the village of Bailovo and passed away on December 3, 1949, in Sofia. He was a prominent Bulgarian writer whose work predominantly focused on portraying the Bulgarian village. Elin Pelin is often referred to as the “bard of the Bulgarian village” due to his vivid depictions of rural life in his literary works.
