At the conclusion of 2006, the Vaska Emanuilova Gallery emerged into existence through a collaborative effort between the Sofia Municipality and Sofia City Art Gallery. Nestled on the northern side of Zaimov Park along an odd-numbered street on Yanko Sakazov Blvd, this gallery stands as a testament to the renowned Bulgarian sculptor, housing an esteemed museum collection. This collection encompasses 89 terracotta and bronze sculptures, accompanied by 38 drawings and 48 watercolors, showcasing the artistic brilliance of the sculptor. A portion of these remarkable artworks is on display within a permanent exhibition.
Functioning both as a museum and an exhibition space, the “Vaska Emanuilova” Gallery provides a multifaceted experience for visitors. It boasts a designated hall for temporary exhibitions, serving as a platform for research and curatorial projects closely tied to Vaska Emanuilova’s work or aligned with initiatives supported by the gallery. Among these initiatives are the Sculpture Program and the contemporary art platform known as Meeting Place, a project under the auspices of the Sofia City Art Gallery hosted within the Vaska Emanuilova Gallery. This vibrant space showcases a diverse array of artistic endeavors, fostering an environment that encourages exploration and appreciation of art in various forms while honoring the legacy of Vaska Emanuilova.
