The monument to Academician Dmitry Likhachov in the Obelya quarter, Sofia, pays homage to the esteemed Russian scholar and advocate for Bulgarian culture. Unveiled on November 30, 2015, this tribute was crafted by architect Vencislav Jachkolovski and sculptor Stanislav Korchev. Dmitry Sergeevich Likhachev, a Russian academician, delved into diverse areas such as medieval Russian literature, history, folklore, Byzantine, and Slavic literature and arts, leaving an indelible mark on cultural studies. His friendship with Bulgaria earned the country the endearing moniker of the “Country of the Spirit.”
