The resting place of Niil Izvorov is situated adjacent to the south-eastern wall of the apse of the Church of Saint Sedmochislenitsi in Sofia. Niil Izvorov was a notable figure during the Bulgarian Revival period, deeply involved in the quest for an independent national church. In 1873, he ascended to the position of a bishop within the Bulgarian Exarchate. However, in 1874, Niil aligned with the union but subsequently reverted to Orthodoxy in 1876. Notably, in the following year, 1877, he was ordained as the apostolic administrator of the Bulgarian Uniates in the Ottoman Empire. His life reflects the complex dynamics and transitions of the religious landscape during that time.
