Military Club – Central Home of the Army

The Military Club building in Sofia has a rich history, originating from a site that once housed a Turkish cavalry barracks. Its construction over such historic foundations, unfortunately, led to the inadvertent loss of some significant discoveries like the fortress wall, clay pipes, and inscriptions with Thracian names. However, the resulting structure, completed in 1903 in the Neo-Renaissance style, became a significant cultural hub. Known for its architectural grandeur, it played a crucial role in the development of Bulgarian theater and opera. Its association with Prince Alexander I of Battenberg further emphasizes its historical importance as a venue for cultural events that attracted notable figures of the time.
