The Dolls Art House and Museum is a distinctive doll museum in Bulgaria housing over 3,000 dolls. This unique space encompasses a workshop and a party center for birthdays. The collection includes porcelain dolls, antique dolls, ritual dolls, contemporary dolls, marionettes, souvenir dolls from Bulgaria and around the world, vintage dolls, collectibles, and more. The dolls come to life with smiles, songs, and dances, narrating captivating stories. The museum, situated in the center of Sofia within a century-old neoclassical house, boasts a cozy inner courtyard.
Visitors to the Dolls Art House and Museum are taken on a journey through the fascinating history of dolls, with the team showcasing remarkable exhibits. Among them are the oldest Gertrude doll, a 150-year-old German creation, and the smallest dolls—tiny figurines of the seven lucky ones, measuring less than half a centimeter (from Japan). Notable characters in the museum include the crying Snowflake and the angry Tzuplichka, presented as gestural puppets. The museum offers a diverse array of characters, and visitors are encouraged to plan at least an hour for an immersive experience.
Additionally, the workshop, an integral part of the Dolls Art House and Museum, serves as a popular destination for children. Group classes are conducted every Saturday, with materials provided. Individual workshops and art sessions are also offered during the week.
