“Buxton” stands as one of the districts of Sofia, having merged with the “Pavlovo” district. Positioned to the south of the city center, the majority of “Krasno selo” falls within the “Vitosha” district, while its northern part, north of “Todor Kableshkov” street, aligns with the “Krasno selo” district. The district shares boundaries with one of Sofia’s major thoroughfares, Tsar Boris III Blvd. Its nomenclature is a tribute to the Buxton brothers, Noel and Charles, distinguished British public figures who advocated for the Bulgarian cause during the Balkan, Inter-Allied, and First World Wars.
Buxton Brothers Boulevard serves as the primary road link in the neighborhood, running parallel to the Boyanska River.
A historical note reveals that during the Second World War, identical two-story houses were erected for German officers in the vicinity. Additionally, a substantial building, now housing Prof. Dr. Decho Denev Secondary Special School, served as the headquarters for the German Army in Bulgaria.
In the late 1960s and over the subsequent two decades, a complex of panel dwellings took shape within the neighborhood of Buxton. This development also brought forth essential amenities, including School 142 OSU and the nearby polyclinic XX DKC, contributing to the residential and healthcare infrastructure of the district.
