The monument stands as a tribute to the indomitable spirit and bravery of our national heroes hailing from Macedonia, White Sea Thrace, and Odrinsko. Situated at the intersection of Todor Aleksandrov Blvd. and Stefan Stambolov St., this majestic monument crafted from white Vratsa stone stands tall at approximately six meters in height.
Its design is striking, featuring two immense wings that symbolize the soaring courage and valor of 150 remarkable individuals. Engraved upon these wings are the names of these heroes who played pivotal roles in various historical events. Among them were the courageous organizers of the Ilinden-Preobrazhensky uprising, valiant participants in the Macedonian-Odrina militia during the Balkan liberation wars, and the steadfast members of the 11th Macedonian division in the throes of the First World War.
The monument’s base holds within it a poignant excerpt from Vaz’s poignant poem “Bulgaria, for you.” It encapsulates the enduring spirit and dedication of these heroes, preserving their memory for generations to come.
