100 National Tourist Sites

The house-museum of Zahari Stoyanov is a place steeped in memories of this incredible man, whose name is actually Jendo Stoyanov Jedev, born in the village of Medven, Sliven region.

The son of a shepherd, who became one of the brightest Bulgarian revolutionaries, politicians and writers with an original pen. Participant in the April Uprising of 1876, he was the first historiographer in his book “Notes on the Bulgarian Uprisings”.

One of the main actors – the chairman of the Bulgarian Secret Central Revolutionary Committee, which organized the union of the Principality of Bulgaria with Eastern Rumelia in 1885 Until the end of his life, he was among the leaders of the People’s Liberal Party, a representative of the people, vice-president and chairman of the parliament.

But he remained in our history not so much with his political as with his literary activity, his journalism was extremely emotional, frank, even sometimes unrestrained , angry and tongue-sharp and flowery.
Everything he wrote was true, and he had reason to say the words: “I was not guided by any rules or authorities THE HOLY TRUTH WAS MY BANNER!”
