“Shipka-Buzludzha” National Park-Museum is an open-air museum located on the very theater of military operations. It covers the area of historical places where some of the most epic moments in the Bulgarian history related to the defense of the Shipchen Pass during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877/78. The museum was established in 1956 and is a complex of monuments, reconstructions of positions, batteries and dugouts.

On top of Shipka stands the Freedom Monument. On the seven floors of the Monument there is a museum exposition, including a rich collection of orders and medals, photographic and documentary material, personal belongings of participants in the battles, weapons. Visitors can climb to the open platform on the very roof of the Monument, from where a panoramic view of the Rose Valley, the neighboring peaks and the Pre-Balkan is revealed.

In the composition of the NPM  €žShipka – Buzludzha€œ are also the monuments of Hajdushka meadow, under Mount Buzludzha. They are dedicated to Hadji Dimitar and his Chetniks, who died in an unequal battle on this place in 1868. Every year, on July 20, Ilinden, Kazanlak Municipality organizes celebrations to honor the memory of the heroes.

Work time:
Summer opening hours (1 May – 30 September): 9.00 am – 6.00 pm (tickets sold until 5.30 pm)
Winter opening hours (1 October – 30 April): 9.30 am – 5.00 pm (tickets are sold until 4:30 p.m.)

Entrance fees:
For adults – BGN 4.00
For students (students, students and doctoral students) and pensioners – BGN 2.00
Family ticket for families with children up to 18 years of age – BGN 8
For children up to 7 years of age, people with disabilities and their companions, workers in museums and galleries, war veterans and military disabled – free entry.
Every first Monday of the month, the entry for visits is free.
