“Sharenka” cave is a kind of museum of mining in the Rhodopes and in general in these lands since the 8th century BC. It is located 2.5 km. southwest of Madan on the left bank of a deep gorge. It bears the name of the largest district in the city of Madan – Sharenka quarter.
It can be reached on an asphalt road for about 3 km or on foot for 300 m along a mountain path.
The place is picturesque and attractive. The cave has been turned into a tourist attraction, exhibited with a museum collection and artistic lighting. Specially made mannequins (10 wax figures in natural human size) and tools of labor were used for the unique cave expositions. Opposite the entrance of the cave there is a waterfall, and near it – a wooden gazebo with a fountain.
