National Cave House – Karlukovo (Karlukovo Learning Center) is located in the town of Kaleto, on the right bank of the Iskar River, at 187 m above sea level. The building has a capacity of 60 places, has a tourist canteen, a buffet, and a study room. It is used both by tourists and for training and seminars to support scientific and research activities in speleology. Of particular interest is the rich collection collected by Petar Tranteev, one of the founders of caving in Bulgaria.
It can be reached from Lukovit – 10 km of asphalt road and from railway station. p. Karlukovo station. The area is extremely interesting and rich in karst formations – over 150 caves and chasms, the most famous of which are Prokhodna, Temnata Dupka, Kucheshka, etc. In the village of Karlukovo is the Karlukovo Monastery “Assumption”, and nearby are the rock churches “St. Marina” and “St. Gregory”.
