The Historical Museum of the city of Asenovgrad is extremely attractive and presents the history of the city and the region from 7000 years BC. till present days. Unique artifacts from all eras and civilizations can be seen here. Among them are the Neolithic ceramics from the settlement mound near the village of Muldava, the Chalcolithic idol sculpture from the settlement mound near the village of Rouen, tools from the Bronze Age, a rich collection of votive plaques of Greco-Roman deities and the Thracian heros, a chariot from the Roman era, artifacts from Late Antiquity.
Of particular interest are the magnificent idol sculptures from prehistory and antiquity (eg a statue of the Mother Goddess and a three-dimensional figure of Telesphorus). The exposition also shows a rich numismatic collection. The museum presents Asenovgrad and the region as a cult and religious center, shaped from the deepest antiquity to the present day.
In the exhibition there are extremely valuable icons, church utensils, old printed books and archives revealing the history and contribution of the Church and the surrounding monasteries. A key place in the exposition is occupied by the presentation of the Asenova fortress.
