In the center of Yambol is located the Bezisten – a beautiful building from the 16th century, a tourist emblem of Yambol. The former covered bazaar is now a modern interactive museum, with second place in the Innovation category 2018 in the Ministry of Tourism’s annual awards.
Bezisten is also a center of attraction for fans of the art of music, because of the concert hall with an organ and wonderful acoustics for classical concerts. The impressive architecture of the building is complemented by the color of the surrounding cafes and souvenir shops.
If you enter the underground floor of the building, you will find “The Past”. Visualized in 3D format, personalities, museums and fortresses, churches, public buildings and parks come to life. 25 personalities related to Yambol tell stories about themselves and the time they lived in. The “Well of Time” shows the most interesting routes for walking around Yambol, and the “Interactive Land” of Bezistena will make you witness the most significant moments of the social and cultural life of the city. Here is the place to see and hear stories about Yambol theater, museum work, Yambol zeppelin, horse tram, Yambol regiments, freemasonry, anarchism, sports glory of the city, etc. All video materials are presented in five languages – Bulgarian, English, German, French and Russian.
