The Scientific and Industrial Zone “Dianabad” stands as a distinctive district in the city of Sofia, Bulgaria, nestled in the southeast region of the city within the Izgrev district, southeast of the city center. Originally conceived as an industrial hub adjacent to the residential district of “Dianabad,” the district underwent a notable transformation from the late 20th century onwards. As of 2023, “Dianabad” has predominantly evolved into a well-developed area, marked by a blend of administrative and residential structures.
This dynamic district encompasses two distinct sections. The eastern part is situated between the boulevards “Tsarigradsko shose,” “G. M. Dimitrov,” and “Dragan Tsankov,” with boundaries marked by the streets “Tintyava” and “Dr. Lyuben Rusev.” On the other hand, the western part extends between “Dragan Tsankov” and the streets “St. Pimen Zografski,” “Nikola Gabrovski,” and “Samokov.” “Dianabad” shares borders with the neighborhoods of “Izgrev” and “Iztok” to the north, “Geo Milev” to the east, “Mladost 1” and “Dianabad” to the south, and is flanked by the Hunting Park and Boris Garden to the west. The district’s geographical placement makes it a vital and well-connected component of Sofia’s urban landscape.
