Statue of Aleko Konstantinov

Monuments

The Aleko Konstantinov statue, positioned along “Vitosha” Boulevard, portrays the renowned writer standing tall, casually resting against a pillar marked with signs of locations from his writings. Near his feet, a suitcase awaits, suggesting readiness for adventure, while a book is clasped in his hand. His eyes are set towards Vitosha, looking at “The Lucky One,” a moniker Konstantinov himself embraced. Renowned for his affection for travel, he often claimed the scent of railways as his favored aroma. Aleko Konstantinov played a pivotal role in initiating Bulgaria’s modern tourism movement, which is why Vitosha’s station fondly carries his nickname, “the Happy One.”
