Theater workshop “Sfumato”

Art & Culture

The “Sfumato” Theater Workshop, founded in 1989, stands out for its innovative approach, focusing on thematic programs rather than a traditional repertoire. These thematic programs delve into the works of specific authors, offering a deeper exploration of their creations rather than individual plays catering to diverse tastes. For instance, they’ve undertaken series based on Dostoyevsky and Strindberg, showcasing a thematic unity in their productions.

Located at 2 “Dimitar Grekov” street since May 2004, the theater workshop resides in the restored building of the former “Poduene” bath in “Oborishte” park. Its performances often feature a core group of actors, though the theater doesn’t maintain a permanent troupe. To make attending performances more accessible, tickets for the “Sfumato” theater program have been available at the box office of the “Ivan Vazov” National Theater since February 2015. You can reach the venue via multiple bus and tram lines.
