The birthplace of the poet Nikola Vaptsarov was turned into a museum in 1952. After 3 reconstructions – 1960, 1979 and 1992 – the current exposition is made at a high professional level and is distinguished by the non-traditional method of presenting information for a memorial museum. On the instructions of the poet’s family members – his mother Elena, his brother Boris and his sister Raina – the domestic environment and the environment during his childhood have been partially restored. The museum has 3 functional parts – a video hall in 2 rooms /with a capacity of 40 seats/, where the family tree of the poet is presented; authentic ethnographic exposition and video room – “The Poetry of Vaptsarov”.
The museum also exhibits copies of Vaptsarov’s manuscripts, the first publications of his poems, later collected in a separate collection of poems. The suit, shirt and watch worn by the poet before the shooting are kept in a showcase. The museum has ready-made talks through video material in English, German, French and Russian. The house-museum is united in one complex with the House of Arts and Poetry.
