Art gallery “Vladimir Dimitrov-Maistora” was founded in 1944 with the opening of an exhibition, including 50 canvases of the Master, donated by the artist himself. In 1972, the country’s first specially built gallery building was opened in the center of Kyustendil. The lighting in the exhibition halls is natural overhead.
The gallery has a unique collection of works that show the rich traditions and high achievements in the visual arts, above all of those of Kyustendil, but also of other distinguished Bulgarian and foreign artists. As a volume, the work of the Master occupies a central place in the general fund of the gallery and includes painting, watercolors and drawings.
