Monument to Kiril Blagoev

The monument to Kiril Blagoev, situated in Sofia’s “Iliyantsi” district, stands as a tribute to his valor and sacrifice. Erected in 1959 through the contributions of local residents, it commemorates Kiril Blagoev’s courageous involvement in the Second World War. His service included active participation in military operations in Yugoslavia and Hungary from 1944 to 1945.

Tragically, Kiril Blagoev met his untimely end near Stracin, alongside the Pchinya River in 1944. His unwavering dedication and valor were posthumously honored with the award of both a silver and bronze medal in recognition of his selfless service. The monument serves as a poignant reminder of his sacrifice and the profound impact of his contribution during wartime.
