The monument in Boris Garden commemorates the legacy of Dimitar Nikolov Assenov, revered as Hadji Dimitar, a prominent Bulgarian voivode. His remarkable life was tragically cut short at the young age of 28 during a fierce battle against Ottoman forces. Hristo Botev, renowned for his literary contributions, penned a poem titled “Hadji Dimitar” in honor of Assenov’s courage and sacrifice, immortalizing his bravery in Bulgarian history and culture.
